The Nürburgring 24 Hours from June 3 to 6 is one of the most important races of the year for Audi Sport customer racing: With a track length of 25 kilometers, a 24-hour race duration and more than 120 participants, it is the race of superlatives worldwide. Audi Sport has clinched five victories with the R8 LMS at the endurance classic since 2012. At the same time, the legendary Nordschleife is the venue for a demanding baptism of fire this time: The second generation of the Audi RS 3 LMS makes its race debut at the Nürburgring in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup.
Audi Sport customer racing welcomes its largest line-up of customer racing teams to two ADAC platforms this year. This year, the automobile club is positioning itself more broadly than ever before in German GT and touring car racing. In two of the club’s event packages, Audi Sport customer racing is one of the leaders with a total of 23 race cars in the GT3, GT4 and TCR categories. The series kicks off with the ADAC GT Masters, ADAC GT4 Germany and ADAC TCR Germany racing series at Oschersleben from May 14 to 16. The new ADAC Racing Weekend series will be launched at the same venue from June 25 to 27.

Audi Sport customer racing has never been so strongly represented in the European racing series of promoter SRO (Stéphane Ratel Organization) as in the 2021 season. A total of nine of the brand’s customer teams will field three different types of race cars in three racing series at the inaugural weekend at Monza from April 16 to 18. In an extremely thrilling finale of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC), Audi Sport Team WRT improved from seventh place to second position. Mirko Bortolotti/Frédéric Vervisch/Charles Weerts crossed the finish line 22 hundredths of a second behind the winners in the rain chaos behind the safety car. Audi’s customer teams achieved a total of four title wins in France and Italy in race series for GT4 sports cars and TCR touring cars. Podium results in Macau and Japan and a class title in American club racing rounded off the success story.
A race with its outcome open up until the end, the balanced battle for victory by several brands, treacherous, changeable weather and many retirements: The 71st running of the Spa 24 Hours delivered nearly unrivaled suspense and drama. In the end, Audi in the battle for its fifth victory at Spa, after having led the race for hours on end, had to admit defeat by merely 4.6 seconds with the runner-up’s spot claimed by Audi Sport Team Attempto and sixth position by Audi Sport Team Saintéloc. Before the race, Audi attracted major attention with its RS e-tron GT prototype leading the field during the formation lap, ringing in the electric age in GT racing.
While the GT3 version of the Audi R8 LMS remains on the road to success in Germany and Italy, the T3-HRT-Motorsport team achieved its first podium result of the season in the ADAC GT4 Germany. With a total of five victories in America, New Zealand and Sweden, the Audi RS 3 LMS was Audi Sport customer racing’s most successful model on the first weekend of October.
Fighting for its sixth overall victory in the turbulent 48th running of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Audi Sport customer racing had to admit defeat by just a few seconds. Audi Sport drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Christopher Haase and Markus Winkelhock in the Audi R8 LMS crossed the finish line in the most adverse conditions in the Eifel region as runners-up. They achieved this result as a squad of three after their team-mate Robin Frijns, who had originally been planned to race with them in Audi Sport Team Car Collection, was unable to compete due to an infection with the common cold.
