Audi has not ruled out staying in the DTM in some capacity beyond the end of the 2020 season, despite announcing its exit from the series in April.

Since the news was made official, the ITR has gone into overdrive to secure the future of the DTM, and it is understood that series chief Gerhard Berger has shortlisted upgraded GT3 cars and LMDh machines to replace the Class One platform.

Should the DTM move to GT3 cars, Audi could potentially continue in the series with the R8 LMS that is currently used in a variety of sportscar championships worldwide. Read more

Eagle-eyed observers had spotted certain DTM cars carrying oversized rear wings at last month’s pre-season test at the Nurburgring. While it initially appeared that manufacturers were trialing new aerodynamic aids during testing, it has since emerged that those large overhanging structures are actually there for safety reasons. The final phase of preparation for the restart of the Formula E season has begun: Newcomer René Rast completed his first laps in the electric race car during testing at the Lausitzring. Alongside his teammate, Lucas di Grassi, the German got up to speed for his race debut with the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team.

The RCCO #RaceHome charity racing series held its season finale with the largest field of drivers to date. The round’s venue was the virtual race track in Laguna Seca, USA. A total of 23 drivers competed on the 3.6-kilometer circuit and fought close battles with exciting overtaking maneuvers. While Nico Müller had secured the drivers’ title a week earlier, the battle for second place in the championship was still open. Both Robin Frijns and Mike Rockenfeller went into the final round with chances of becoming the runner-up. Read more

As the Ontario COVID-19 restrictions slowly decrease, motorsports organizations were able to reopen and resume their activities.  With only a few months left to the racing season in Canada, this revised calendar has been adjusted to reflect the current situation.

Formula E is making a spectacular comeback on the race track: Between August 5 and 13, the all-electric racing series will be staging no less than six rounds in succession at the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin. At Lucas di Grassi’s side, two-time DTM champion René Rast will contest the remaining races of the current season with the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team.

The penultimate sim racing round of the 2020 #RaceHome season was characterized above all by the thrilling duel for the drivers’ title. Only Robin Frijns was in the running to deny an early championship triumph for his teammate Nico Müller in the ninth round on the virtual circuit of Fuji Speedway. The two drivers from Abt Sportsline, the winners of the teams’ title, were separated by 16 points. Unlike Frijns, Müller missed the direct entry into the semi-finals in his qualification round. But, the Swiss withstood the increasing pressure and took the chance in the last qualification sprint race to still secure a spot in the semi-final.  Read more
