Successful on the Nordschleife

At rounds 2 and 3 of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, which were held on the same weekend at the Nürburgring on 11 and 12 July, Audi’s customers had plenty to celebrate. Audi Sport drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Christopher Haase and Markus Winkelhock in the Audi R8 LMS of the Audi Sport Team finished second overall on Sunday after four hours of racing. The GITI Tire Motorsport by WS Racing team dominated the SP8 class: Henrik Bollerslev/Niklas Kry/Carrie Schreiner remained unbeaten in the Audi R8 LMS GT4 on Saturday and Sunday. Team Bonk Motorsport won the SP3T class with Hermann Bock and Michael Bonk in the Audi RS 3 LMS on Saturday and finished second on Sunday. Team MSC Sinzig e.V. in the ADAC with Kristian Jepsen/Jan Sorensen in another Audi RS 3 LMS followed one position behind each. Read more

Audi could extend DTM stay with GT3 formula

Audi has not ruled out staying in the DTM in some capacity beyond the end of the 2020 season, despite announcing its exit from the series in April.

Since the news was made official, the ITR has gone into overdrive to secure the future of the DTM, and it is understood that series chief Gerhard Berger has shortlisted upgraded GT3 cars and LMDh machines to replace the Class One platform.

Should the DTM move to GT3 cars, Audi could potentially continue in the series with the R8 LMS that is currently used in a variety of sportscar championships worldwide. Read more

While it initially appeared that manufacturers were trialing new aerodynamic aids during testing, it has since emerged that those large overhanging structures are actually there for safety reasons. René Rast drives Audi Formula E car for the first time

The final phase of preparation for the restart of the Formula E season has begun: Newcomer René Rast completed his first laps in the electric race car during testing at the Lausitzring. Alongside his teammate, Lucas di Grassi, the German got up to speed for his race debut with the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team.
